Haiti needs help
In Haiti, 65% of the population live below the poverty threshold and 25% below the extreme poverty threshold. According to the latest data from FAO, almost half of Haiti’s 11 million inhabitants do not receive sufficient nutrition. The United Nations states that half of the inhabitants do not have drinking water within 500 metres and drink from sources contaminated by leakage from home sewage. The situation has become worse since demonstrations and rioting in the streets began protesting against the current government, accused of corruption.
Haiti needs a Strategic Food Safety Plan urgently to solve the root cause. But we need resources to do this. That is why we are asking for your support.
